As a Family Nurse Practitioner who has had LapBand, I really understand how to help my bariatric clients and my clients who are preparing for bariatric surgery, as well as those who are trying everything they can to avoid having WLS (weight loss surgery).

Weight loss surgery is simply a tool and it must be used correctly. It is not a magic solution and having WLS doesn’t make it easier to lose weight, it just gives you help in one area- portion control. However, you still need to learn how to make healthy food choices, get on a daily exercise regime, and build your confidence while changing the way you think about your body and food.
